Client: The Church of St. Francis Xavier – New York, NY

The client, a Jesuit, Catholic parish located in Manhattan, like many other churches throughout NY was struggling with how to manage the Covid-related mandates on large gatherings.  Forced into closing their doors to the congregation, they looked for a way to deliver services to their congregation virtually.  Initially, they contacted a local photography studio to offer some assistance and began live-streaming Masses using a camera on a tripod and running a network cable across the floor to provide internet access.  After a few weeks, they realized the wanted something more permanent and reliable so they asked the photographer for more help.

The photographer, Mark Moss of Harisch Studios in Ridgewood, reached out to us for a solution.  Collaborating with Mark, we installed three permanently mounted PTZOptics cameras throughout the sanctuary with an IP Joystick controller and a Black Magic Design stream switcher located in the organ loft which allows for multiple camera views and smooth video transitioning.

In addition, we provided direct internet access for the stream to the organ loft utilizing a narrow beam WiFi bridge from the lower portion of the sanctuary to the loft and installing an 8-port POE switch.  Once the new networking was installed in the loft, the pastor asked if we could also improve the WiFi in the sanctuary.  We then added two WiFi access points to complete the job.
